So, you'd like to see my monsters, eh?

I remember admiring people who make and perform with puppets since an early age, having been taught a proper appreciation for Jim Henson's work. I used to make my own puppets out of paper and socks, while reading library books about more complicated projects.

About a year ago, I decided to learn how to make foam puppets, and here you can see a few photos of my creations thus far!

This handsome fellow is Sebastian the goblin. He's a friendly, shy fellow who went with me to a kindergarten class to help tell stories. Despite his scary snaggle-teeth, they loved him, and insisted that I bring him along every time I visited.

This is Dim, who was built over the course of a week-long puppet making workshop I taught for a small group of middle school kids. Dim is a miserable, depressed sort of creature, probably because I still haven't decided what -sort- of creature he is!

This is Monster, and a character I can't wait to perform. This was the second puppet head I've constructed, but working on his body has been an ongoing project. When Monster is finished, he will be a full-body puppet, and a curious, childlike creature that doesn't know his own strength.

This is Opal the dragon, a fairly simply constructed puppet, and my first completed character since moving to Michigan.

I am currently working on Monster's body, a green opossum named Sludge, and a puppet commission of an even more green bat!
